Well, my weekend plans just got shot.
My friend who was coming to visit had to cancel. Her mom had a heart attack this morning. All I can say is thankfully it didn't happen tomorrow! That would have sucked royally.
Oh well, maybe another time.
I have come to the conclusion that the real estate market is a ponsi scheme. I purchased a house 6 months ago. At the time my credit rating had a hit against it and I couldn't get the 5 year ARM I wanted and had to get a 30 year fixed. Basically I had to pay a few hundred more a month than I wanted. But my realator suggested that I re-finance in 6 months.
So that's what I'm doing. In SIX months the value of my house has gone up 20,000!!! 6 bloody months. And why? Because 4 houses in my neighborhood have either been sold or refinanced and they had a value increase ... why did they have a value increase? Because 6 months ago I bought a house that increased in value from the time the previous owners bought in. And what is going to happen now? My neighbors houses will go up in value because I'm locking in the 20K increase.
Ponsi. Pure and simple.
Not that I'm going to complain. I'll be paying $400 less a month for my mortgage and I've got 20K of equity in the place now. Enough for an emergency loan if I need it or simply want to throw a huge party :-)
Otherwise I'm doing well. Work has been sucking a massive proportion of my time. Some days I was there more than 12 and I worked 30+ days without a break ....
Sunday I went to see Meat Loaf in concert. A lot of fun. The local ampitheter he was performing at was great. We had lawn seating which was actually much nicer than the real seats.
This weekend a friend of mine from Canada is coming for a quick visit. It's a vacation for her and she wants Beef Wellington. I've never made beef wellington. Should be interesting.
Have a good one all.
