Has it really been that long?

September 11th? Almost a month since updating.... ok here goes ...

1) Work has been busy. I've been working 7 days weeks ... but only 4-6 hours on Sat/Sun instead of my normal 10-12. The big project is going well. We're on schedule, which really means that we are almost teetering on not making it :-) We're switching to a new schedule that will give us several extra weeks to finish.

2) Personal. Well, I met someone new. Cute, intelligent, great big smile. No car :-( So I might be driving into DC more soon. More after I make her dinner. Current plans are either my roasted Salmon with Asparagus, or my Ahi Tuna slow boiled in reduced tomato paste from roma tomatos in olive oil and spices. Or Pizza :-)

3) Got a wierd call from my freind Ezekial. She asked me why people work. This isn't as wierd a question as it sounds though. She just finished her masters and went to work for a HUGE defense contractor. She's never lived/worked outside of a nice small community before. Now she works with more people than lived in her University town. So she's feeling a little overwhelmed. Now, she called me because I'm one of her few friends that has a significant work experience. Thankfully my answere wasn't "To make money to buy things." since she was really serious. By the end of the call we established that she needed to do some soul searching and perhaps see a career counselor to see about other options for her. We also talked about a possible visit. Warm fuzzy feeling for Lance.

4) Today ... IDIOTS! One of our technicians broke a 4L bottle of solvent today. If you listen to our safety staff IT WAS THE END OF THE WORLD! They put our technicians through hell. Bugging them about forms, proceedures, etc. They even tried to confiscate one girls shoes! There was no danger. No health risk. Nothing ... it just smelled bad. The stuff was so volatile that after 10 minutes 99% of it would have evaporated. The only real hazard was when the "Spill Response Team" showed up and started pouring some liquid on the floor and it got slippery. Fucking morons.

Ok, time to go practive a recipe for Jodie .... ;-)
