We get home from a long weekend driving Nubs to and from Maryland. Today I go out to pick Ruth up to get lunch and 'click'. Hmmm....try again. 'click'. Then I notice that the LCD's are all dim. Oh damn.
So after getting Ruth to drive home to pick me up and I then drop her back off at work, I head out to buy a battery. Now keep in mind that I've never changed a battery before. In my defense I DID try to get in touch with my mechanic and no joy. So, I checked wiki and realized that my own knowledge about safe handling of electricity was better. Off I went with my insulated tools and the new battery.
5 minutes later, Fey growled to life. Now what the hell do I do with this old hunk o' acid and lead?
I haven't been very regular about posting here. I'd like to use the excuse that I've been busy or whatnot, but really I've been avoiding it.
Most people who would be reading this most likely have heard the news of the last few months. but on the off chance there is someone who reads this that isn't on my phone list here goes.
6 months ago I left my long-time (8 year) job with a biotech company to start my own consulting business. I did so with the support of my wife and friends. I had been planning this for a long time, but had anticipated doing the split on better terms and in the middle of 2008, not 2007. That has led to some problems, mainly with finances, but overall things have gone well.
I put my condo on the market and got a contract offer. We haven't closed yet, that's scheduled for the end of March. I'm hoping it doesn't fall through. If it does we'll go on from there.
My business was formed in August and I've been working under a verbal contract with my previous company since then. I've been making forays into other companies, but nothing really has come of it yet. I was hoping to finalize the written contract last week but that didn't happen. That is an issue I will have to address next month. It will probably re-open old wounds and I will have to hold my temper.
On the other side of things, Ruth & I moved to her house and adopted a second dog. A black lab puppy we named Shade. We have a very good German dog trainer and Shade just passed her beginners test. I am so proud of her. In January we start her advanced training. That's going to be a lot harder.
In a nutshell that's about what's been going on. There's something else big, but I can't talk about that yet. Hopefully soon :-)
